How to: DIY Vanilla Latte Scrub for your smoothest skin ever

written by Olivia Akumu October 6, 2016

Nothing feels better than a good pamper…am I right? I try and make some time at least once a week to have a mini-treat at home, but when I’ve got the time I like to go all out: face mask, steam, body scrub…heck a full-blown nail art mani-pedi if I’m feeling it!

Homemade body scrubs are definitely my new thing. They are super easy to make, with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry, and your skin will feel like silk afterwards! I found a version of this scrub when scouring the internet a few weeks back and I’ve been loving it. It’s LITERALLY a latte in a jar.

Products you will need:

  • Coffee grounds (you can use either pre-ground coffee or grind the coffee beans if you’re feeling fancy)
  • Sugar (I used standard sugar from the supermarket, but any sugar will do. For extra sweetness reach for the muscovado sugar)
  • Coconut oil (swap this for olive oil if you like)
  • Vanilla essence

Optional (for that extra warming feeling):

  • Ground cinnamon

I’m not much of a coffee drinker, but the smell of this in the shower in the morning really invigorates and energizes me. And the coconut oil is a great moisturiser. All you need to do is to mix together the ingredients in fairly equal portions in a jar and that’s it! Add more dry products or oil to get the consistency you want.

Tip: Start small and make sure you seal it well (I used a glass jar with a rubberized ring) and you can use it for up to 2 weeks.

A quick word of warning that this will make your shower look like you just went for a 5km mud run, but as long as your shower is running hot you shouldn’t have a problem with this clogging your drain.
