Review & Swatches: Jordana 2-in-1 Concealer & Foundation

written by Olivia Akumu October 19, 2016

There’s not much noise made about the Jordana beauty range in Kenya, but there should be. It’s an American drugstore brand that does really good quality makeup products at an affordable price.  I swear by their Quick Shine Topcoat (which is the only dupe I’ve found for my beloved Seche Vite topcoat) so I was really pleased when I ran into the Jordana makeup stand at Chandarana supermarket in Yaya Centre.

Never one to leave a good foundation buying opportunity aside, I picked up two shades in the 2-in-1 Concealer & Foundation and put them to the test for you.

The claim:

Meet your secret weapon for making dark circles and spots look like they’ve vanished! Complete Cover 2-in-1 Concealer & Foundation evens out skin tone when applied as an all-over foundation, and also works as a full coverage concealer—just dab onto trouble spots for a quick fix. Complete Cover 2-in-1 Concealer & Foundation = the ultimate in double duty beauty!

Jordana’s got it right with its full coverage claim. The consistency of these foundation/concealers is quite thick, but without feeling too heavy on the skin. And as they say they can work as on the spot concealers or as a full foundation. I prefer to use a beauty blender on these to sheer out the coverage a little bit, but they also works great with a buffing brush if you’re after fuller coverage.

I had caught a little sun in this pic, so bear in mind my skin is normally a little lighter than this

There are a total of  12 shades in the range and I mix the two darkest shades #11 Golden Toffee and #12 Mahogany to get my perfect mix. Tip: If you usually use LA Girl’s HD Pro Conceal in the shade Fawn to highlight your face, then #9 Golden Caramel is an almost exact dupe!

Formula wise, I’d say these border on a semi-dewy finish, which is probably perfect for normal and dry skin types. Nonetheless even with my oily skin I get a good few hours wear before I have to touch up with a blotting powder. A good mattifying primer should also help the cause!

As I mentioned in my L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte Foundation review, I love the tube packaging as it’s great for travel. You get 30g of product in each tube, which is good value for money. They retail at KES 995 at Chandarana, but if you have a friend coming in from the States you can pick this up at a fraction of the cost!

What do you make of the Jordana 2-in-1 Concealer & Foundation? Will you be picking up a shade?
