Review: Paco Rabanne Olympéa

written by Olivia Akumu November 16, 2016

Coco Chanel said it best: “A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future”.

I love perfume. It has this amazing ability to transform you from girly, to sexy, to mysterious – all with the change of a bottle. And it’s because of this that I typically have 3-4 bottles on my dressing table at any one time.

The moment I smelled Paco Rabanne’s Olympéa, I had to have it. It’s described as: A modern day goddess. Heaven-scent. Iconic, chic. Unique. Half-myth, half-muse. Smiling on victory as her natural reward. Ready to seduce Zeus. Trouble in paradise… A sensual salty-vanilla, earthly, irrresistible.

It’s quite hard to describe a fragrance (why haven’t the scientists invented smell-o-vision already?!), but I would say Olympéa is feminine and sexy all at the same time.

Top notes (the notes you immediately smell when you spray the perfume): Green mandarin, ginger lily and hydroponic jasmine

Heart notes (what you smell once the fragrance has settled a little bit): Salted vanilla (yum!)

Base notes (the anchor of the fragrance and what’s left after a few hours wear): Sandalwood and ambergris

The fragrance and the bottle is inspired by Ancient Roman mythology and it looks fantastic on your dresser! I picked up the 80 ml eau de parfum (but this also comes in  30 ml and 50 ml size options). You can get this at any reputable perfume shop in the country.

What’s your favourite scent of the moment?
