Bargain Kilimall Liquid Lipsticks: Review & Swatches

written by Olivia Akumu January 7, 2017

If it hasn’t become apparent by now, I spend a lot of my time browsing the Kilimall website for bargain makeup to try and out and review (see for example, this amazing rose gold brush set). Almost all of my purchases have been stellar and so I just keep going back! On one these visits I came across these liquid lipsticks in an array of colours. After a bit of uhm-ing and ah-ing and trying to decide which shades would work best on my specific shade of melanin, I picked up 4 (there are 12 in total) to try out.

Although I’ve given the lippies a fairly generic name in the title, they are actually by a brand called Hua Mian Li . I’ve not come across the brand before and was pleasantly surprised with that I received when the delivery man came through. The packaging is a perspex tube, with a gold band and a black lid. Both the tube and lid feature the brand’s logo, although it rubbed off quite quickly on the tube – not a big deal for me.

Formula-wise, the liquid lipstick is fairly lightweight, and not too drying on the lips. You get a  good amount of pigment, although the opacity needs build up on some of the colours. Drying time is about 1 minute, which gives you enough time to apply two colours and smack your lips together for it to blend before it starts to dry and up and you get awful clumps coming off. I personally prefer to use a lipliner with most of my lip products, except if they are really super dark, so make sure to use one with these for super precision and blending (particularly with the lightest shade).

VERDICT: Get them! If these look like something you want to try out, you can pick them up here for KES 239 a piece (plus shipping).

Do they stay on all day? do they dry matte? do they leave your lips all dry and cracked? I love that they are so affordable

Hi Rachael, yes they do dry matte (peep the swatches on my arm) but importantly they do not leave your lips cracked! Wear time is really good, probably about 6 hours even with eating and drinking, but as always I would recommend pairing them with a lip liner so that if they do fade you still have an even base underneath. Let me know what you think if you get one and thanks for stopping by!
