Review: Yves Rocher Flawless Skin Foundation in 700

written by Olivia Akumu February 18, 2017

I’m well and truly becoming a foundation addict. I just can’t stop myself – alongside lip products and eyeshadows, foundation has quickly become one of my favourite products to try out. So when Yves Rocher had a 50% offer on in store last month, you already know I had to grab something! I picked up the Flawless Skin Foundation and I have to say I really like it.

The claim:

With its formula enriched in Botanical-Mineral Fusion pigments, the Flawless Skin Foundation perfectly blends with the skin to unify complexion and reveals flawless results, for perfect looking skin.

I can’t say much about the botanical-mineral pigments, as to be honest I’m not really sure what that is! But this foundation really does glide onto the skin and blends out beautifully. The formula is a bit on the thick side, but on the up that means you get really good high coverage. If you don’t like too much of a heavy finish i would definitely recommend using a damp beauty sponge (see my comparison of the beautyblender and Real Techniques sponges here)to sheer it out.

What I love so much about this foundation is the shade range. It comes in a total of 20 shades. I don’t think the stores stock all of the lighter shades, but they do stock all the darker shades. My closest match is the shade 700, which is second to last on the scale. Yves Rocher could improve this by adding some even darker shades to cater for all the melanin, but for a European brand I’d say this is a good selection.

Finish-wise, I’d say you get a silky, demi-matte finish that looks quite natural. The foundation also claims to have a 14 hour wear time, and while I haven’t put that to the test, I’d say if you’re an oily girl like me, make sure you use a mattifying primer and set the foundation as the shine does start to come through in trouble areas after about the 6 hour mark.

The packaging is simple and sleek glass (eek!) bottle and you get the standard 30ml. A major thumbs up for the pump, which makes it really easy to dispense. As the formula is a bit on the heavy side, you will have to work quickly with this. I’ve found that if you’re using a brush that the best way to apply this is to dab it all over your face first, then buff if in. A little bit of Fix+ or water will also help blending it in.

The 50% offer is no longer running, but you can pick this up in Yves Rocher stores in Village Market and Westgate (and probably other locations too) for a very reasonable KES 2,400. Let me know if you’ll be trying this out!
