Review & Swatches: Yves Rocher Intense Colour Eyeshadow

written by Olivia Akumu March 9, 2017

I got a lot of love on a recent Instagram post, where I was wearing a dark green eyeshadow. If you haven’t seen that already (why aren’t you following me again?) the head over here to have a look. I knew the minute I walked into the Yves Rocher store that I had to have this eyeshadow. And on a return trip one day later I picked up two other shades, bringing my total haul to three.

There’s not much to say about these eyeshadows, except I love them! My love affair with Yves Rocher seems like it will be around for a while (check out my review of their foundation). Each eyeshadow comes individually packaged in a sleek, black container, with a sponge applicator (why do brands still include these?!). The formula of these shadows is great. They pack lots of pigment into each swipe and blend beautifully, with minimal to no fall out.

Let’s get into the colours. I didn’t take note while I was in store, but there were quite a number of different shades available. The ones I picked up are:

123 INDIGO MAT – A deep matte blue, with an almost grey-purple undertone. This would be perfect for a dark smokey eye look, or to place in the outer corner of a bright pink eye.

63 EMPIRE – A beautiful shimmery emerald green. Again, you can rock this like I did as a dark green smokey eye.

03 DORE – A gorgeous shimmery champagne-gold colour. This will serve you a lot. Use it as an all over shimmer, in your inner corner, as part of a halo eye look. The possibilities are endless.

I would say that you get better colour payoff with the shimmers than the mattes. But I did use the crappy little sponges for the swatches, so imagine how good you can get these to look with a primer and a good eye brush?

These retail for KES 1,000 each at – which definitely sounds like a lot for a single eyeshadow – but if you can I would definitely invest in at least one colour you think you’ll wear a lot. Grab yours from the Yves Rocher stores (currently Village Market and Westgate in Nairobi).

Will you be trying out any of these eyeshadows? Let me know in the comments below.
